David James Gandy was born on February 19, 1980, in Billericay, Essex, England. Initially aspiring to become a veterinarian, he shifted his focus to marketing due to academic challenges. While studying at the University of Gloucestershire, Gandy's flatmate entered him into ITV's "This Morning" model search competition in 2001, which he won, launching his modeling career with Select Model Management. ​

Modeling Career and Industry Impact

Gandy's breakthrough came in 2006 when he became the face of Dolce & Gabbana, notably starring in their "Light Blue" fragrance campaign. His muscular physique challenged the prevailing trend of slimmer male models, leading to a shift in industry standards. Over the years, he has worked with brands like Banana Republic, Marks & Spencer, and Hugo Boss, and has graced numerous magazine covers and fashion editorials.

Gandy resides in southwest London with his partner, barrister Stephanie Mendoros, and their two daughters. An advocate for animal welfare, he serves as an ambassador for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. His philanthropic efforts extend to various charitable causes, including participating in events like "Fashion for Relief" and supporting environmental initiatives. ​
